The first day of spring is always awesome, robins start showing up, flowers start breaking through the ground and all the die-hards are trying to sneak in a few more days of skiing an snowboarding.
It sure is fun! I was up at McCauley Mountain and they dig out a huge puddle for a pond skimming contest. It was my first time trying this. Tons of people are up there and surrounding the pond, and a handful of daredevils are lined up to take the pond challenge.

In line with me were kids as young as 6 years old and a bunch of adults who want to test their skills at pond skimming.
My attempt was glorious but I didn’t make it. I rode my Utica Club snowboard from the top, and only made it about halfway across the 90 foot puddle.
It was really fun, Everyone was cheering, but when I fell short they started throwing snowballs.
I loved it, and plan on trying it again next year.
